We review applications received from researchers affiliated to the University of Colombo or from institutions that have entered into an agreement with the Faculty of Medicine Colombo University of Colombo or from institutions that have entered into an agreement with the Faculty of Medicine Colombo. The meetings are usually held on the third Thursday of the month. Applications received up to the last working day before 12 noon of the previous month are taken up at these meetings for review. The committee may contact the applicant before the meeting to clarify any matters or request the applicant to be present at its meetings. The review process takes a minimum of two months. So please submit your applications early. The committee reserves the right to refuse to accept applications for projects that are due to commence within two months of the date of submitting the application or projects that have already commenced. No retrospective ethics clearance can be granted.The application fee for Faculty Staff is Rs. 1000/-, for Outsiders 1500/-, for research funded by sponsors 10000/- and for industry sponsored clinical trials it is 100000/-. The fee has to be paid to the Shroff Counter of the Faculty of Medicine, Colombo.
